Lee Gold, founder of PeeWee’s Haishops has travelled world wide hosting shows

 and seminars in countries such as Ireland, South Africa, Switzerland, Canada,

America and the Ukraine, demonstrating and teaching hair designing techniques…

his largest audience being 8,500 at London’s Royal Albert Hall.

Lee, former head of international training at Essanelle and Glemby (now known as Regis), has had his work featured in many major consumer magazines for photo shoots, editorial and advertising purposes 

Lee and his Manchester business partner Sean Byrne, Director of Operations Tracey Prescott and his team of nine managers now run 5 busy buzzing salons. These being 3 in Brighton, 1 in BurgessHill and 1 in Manchester.

Lee began hairdressing aged 16, however this wasn’t his first choice of career as he wanted to be a rock guitarist and race motor bikes!! Unfortunately record deals and race sponsorship were not forthcoming so, luckily for Lee, to satisfy his creative needs his mother convinced him to go for an interview at a salon – and the rest is history. Within a short space of time Lee’s dream wasn’t to just work in a salon, he wantedto own one. From then on he was forming ideas of how he would achieve his goal.

He worked on the idea over the years gaining as much experience as he could. His final position before setting up on his own, was Head of International training at Essenel and Glenby based in Harrods Knightsbridge and Selfridges Oxford Street London .He loved teaching people how to cut and colour hair - he felt that colour was 'make up' for hair and ensured that he researched and specialised in all aspects of hair designing

In 1986 Lee left London for Brighton, at first drawn by the Bohemian, funky vibe of the place, but what appealed to Lee was that is was about as different as you could get from the pristine surroundings of Harrods and Selfridges. Lee was now in a position to start putting onto place his vision of creating a magical and exciting buzzing atmosphere with a professional approach.

Currently a 5 salon group, PeeWees is celebrating 20 years in business by ‘re inventing’ as it was time for change. They have a brand new logo, central number, electronic appointment books, new call centre from November, salon refits and plans for more salons.

Lee passionately believes in producing haircuts that do most of the work for the clients, making them feel amazing and making their life a lot easier.
